Ghirardelli Chocolate Company brings an extra scoop of sweetness to NYC

While New York City might be the Big Apple, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company ready to bring another sweet treat to the iconic Empire State Building. Whether a stop before or after enjoying that impressive view from the observatory, everyone will want a sweet chocolate treat and a taste of those delicious sundaes.

Although Ghirardelli Chocolate Company might always be associated with San Francisco, the celebrated chocolate brand has not left its treats, nor its heart, behind in the city by the bay. But, the brand has traded that golden state of mind for a New York one with its first ever New York City location.

Located on the ground floor of the Empire State Building, the New York Ghirardelli Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop will open its doors on August 6. Ahead of the official opening the food brand celebrated with a special event on National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, a nod to one of the signature menu items that will be offered at the store.

Speaking about the first New York City store, CEO, Joel Burrows said, "We're thrilled to open our first New York store in the Empire State Building. Now anyone who visits the iconic building can put a cherry on top of their experience by enjoying one of our famous sundaes there. Our new store is an important next chapter in our company's long, rich history. We pride ourselves in making chocolate so delicious it Makes Life a Bite Better."

While the new store will feature all those classic square chocolates, it is the special sundaes that will have both locals and tourists lining up for the first spoonful. Overall, there will be 13 different sundaes on the menu.

Of course, the Ghirardelli's World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae will be a feature. Available both in the original option, and a special, exclusive mini treat for summer, that combination of vanilla ice cream, toasted almonds, whipped cream, Ghirardelli Handmade Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge, and a Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Caramel Square almost does not need that cherry on top.

Opening this special store in NYC is smart for the popular chocolate brand. While its San Francisco roots will always be part of the brand’s story, it is vital to bring that concept of “Makes Life a Bite Better” to a wider audience. Being able to walk into a space, appreciate all the deliciousness, and make that flavorful memory is vital to the customer seeing that chocolate on a store shelf at home and making another purchase.
