While the classic guacamole recipe will never go flat, sometimes it needs a little glow up, or bubble up. Ahead of National Avocado Day, Avocados From Mexico and poppi want everyone to try Pop-Guac. It is a recipe that will have everyone feeling a little more bubbly.

Guacamole recipes can be extremely varied. Some people prefer simplicity that is basically avocados and salt. Others prefer heaping amounts of other ingredients. From tomatoes, jalapenos and even olives to a little mayonnaise for smoothness or pepitas for texture, the variations on that classic recipe are almost endless.

For this year’s National Avocado Day, Avocados From Mexico partnered with poppi to bring a bubbly take on guacamole. Speaking about this partnership, Avocados From Mexico President and CEO Alvaro Luque said, “Avocados From Mexico are always good – they taste delicious, and a bowl of fresh guacamole sparks good times whenever it’s around. We’re excited to bring more good times to avocado fans by teaming up with poppi. Innovation is at the heart of our brand, and Pop-Guac shows avocado fans a new way to enjoy the great taste of guacamole on one of our favorite occasions, National Avocado Day.”

Here's how to make the Pop-Guac from Avocados From Mexico and poppi

Ingredients:

3-4 EA Avocados From Mexico

4 fl oz. Ginger Lime Poppi

2 tsp. Salt

1/4 c. White onion, finely chopped

1/2 c. Cilantro, finely chopped

Method:

Remove stem from  avocado.

Cut avocado in half from top to bottom.

Twist one half of the avocado to pull two halves apart.

Remove pit from avocado.

Scoop out the pulp from the avocado and place into a large bowl.

In a large bowl, gently mash the avocado with poppi and salt.

Gently fold in onions, jalapeños, and cilantro.

By adding the poppi to the recipe, the consistency of the avocado become a little smoother. At its base, it is adding liquid to thin out the texture of the mashed avocado.

Additionally, the poppi adds another flavor layer to the recipe. That hint of ginger is a nuanced spice note. Unlike the jalapenos that are in your face spicy, the ginger offers that tingly subtly to the recipe.

Also, the lime brings zestiness. Just like a squeeze of fresh lime finishes many guacamole recipes, this option is a little twist.

Lastly, why not shake up a refreshing beverage to enjoy with that guacamole recipe. While the poppi ginger lime is refreshing on its own, it can get a little twist with a splash of tequila, some lemonade, or another beverage of your choosing.

This National Avocado Day, why not upgrade that classic guacamole with some flavorful twists. A can of poppi might be the secret hack that has everyone going back for another scoopful.
