IHOP's Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity Combo gets a big makeover

While the iconic IHOP menu item is fun to say, the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity Combo has a new look. With an emphasis on customization, guests have more options to enjoy their favorite food.  

Since the 1980s, the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity breakfast has been a guest favorite. It could be the curious name, or it might be the fruit flavors. No matter the reason, the breakfast meal satisfies any and every time of the day.  

Speaking about the combo meal, Kieran Donahue, Chief Marketing Officer, IHOP said, “The New Year calls for experiencing more moments of joy, and IHOP continues to lead with our breakfast equity by reinventing new ways for guests to enjoy their favorite menu items, their way. Currently, over 80 percent of orders at IHOP are customized by our guests. As we continue to evolve our menu to focus on what our guests want, we are focusing on the importance of delivering quality, craveable options like the expansion of our classic Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity to offer even more value options across dayparts. 

Now guests can customize the Rooty Toot Fresh ‘N Fruity combo with strawberry, blueberry compote, seasonal mixed berry topping, or cinnamon apple. Each order comes with the choice of fruit-topped pancakes, crepes, French toast, or a Belgian waffle with two eggs, and either two bacon strips or two sausage links.   

This menu customization comes on the heels of the highly popular Wonka-inspired, colorful menu options that ended 2023. While this limited edition, pop culture themed menu items get much fanfare, it is the tried and true food choices that have built the loyal IHOP guest following.  

Looking ahead to future 2024 menu launches, it will be interesting to see if IHOP keeps that balance of highlighting traditional menu items and offering exciting, colorful and flavorful limited time food. Given that breakfast food is not limited by the clock, each dish needs to be both light and hearty. It is one of the reasons why the Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity has been a long time favorite. The fruit flavors are a touch light while the other ingredients are quite filling.  

In addition, this announcement puts value front and center. Since the menu item starts at $7, guests want to know that there are filling food options that fit within their budgets. Whether it is the individual or a family, no one wants to spend a week’s worth of groceries on a single meal at a restaurant.
