As the Olympic flame burns brightly over Paris, the Peacock show, Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson offers some spirited commentary on the sports, athletes and other happenings around the City of Lights. In today’s episode, 2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Champion Patrick Bertoletti weighs in on the potential of Competitive Eating becoming an Olympic Sport.

When the world comes together to celebrate the Olympics, it is more than just the prestige events that fill the screen. For a few short weeks, Gold Medal winning athletes in shot put, dressage, and even handball get some special recognition. Although some people might have never watched a canoe sprint race or appreciate the nuances of sport climbing, the 32 sports participating showcase the skills, dedication, and determination these athletes possess.

Airing on Peacock every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through August 11, Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson offers a different take on moments from the various competitions. Whether or not comedy is really the gateway drug to fencing or appreciating that some realize that they are never too old to tie for second place, the witty takes during the Comedy Gold Zone are definitely must watch. For some people, it inspired them to watch those hours of sports coverage.

Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson ask competitive eater Patrick Bertoletti the hard push questions.

Earlier this year, Patrick Bertoletti earned the 2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship Mustard Belt. In this exclusive clip provided to FoodSided, the trio discuss the possibility of competitive eating becoming an Olympic sport.

Although Thompson might take a hard pass on competitive eating becoming an Olympic sport, Bertoletti believes that it deserves recognition. It is more than pageantry. Watch out darts and bowling, Betroletti and the Competitive Eating sports world is ready to take over.

While Bertoletti asserts that there is skill to eating all that food in a finite amount of time, it might take some additional petitioning to get the competition into the Olympic program. Even though the first Parisian Olympics might have had tug of war, competitive eating could be a little more arduous, both on and off the field of play.

What makes this Peacock show so entertaining is that Hart and Thompson say what other people think but might be afraid to utter out loud. Who hasn’t wondered how a competitive eater recovers after eating all that food. Hart gets the answer to that burning question.

Before the Olympic flame passes Los Angeles, take some time to watch Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson. The Comedy Golden Zone stands atop of the Olympic coverage podium airing on Peacock.
