After several weeks of competition, the MasterChef Generations season finale is here. With three cooks vying for the title, which generation will prove to be the top culinary master?

Over the seasons, MasterChef has evolved the culinary competition by having different groups battle for supremacy. From crowning a winning region to this season’s battle of the ages, the designations make for engaging television.

This MasterChef season saw how the various generations had different approaches to food. Whether it was plating concepts, cooking techniques, or ingredient combinations, cooks’ backgrounds influenced the dishes presented to the judges.

In the finale, only two of the four generations are represented. Unfortunately, the older generations, Baby Boomers and Gen X are not part of the conversation. It isn’t that these home cooks were not up to the task; rather, they had some mistakes that kept them out of the finale.

The three final cooks left standing are: Becca, Kamay, and Michael. Similar to previous seasons, they have to present a three course dinner, appetizer, entrée and dessert, to the judges. While they have free reign over the food that they present, they do need to choose their progressive menu wisely.

Although creativity is key, a bigger component is vital. The meal must show a progression, be a complete story, and be well executed.

Looking back at the season, all three home cooks have had highs and lows. The most important aspect to this meal is execution. The cook who can present a clear vision with impeccable food will earn high praise from the judges.

Even though the group is well-matched, Becca might have an advantage. Throughout the season, she has presented desserts that wowed the judges. Since dessert is often the stumbling block in culinary competitions, this skill could give her a leg up.

But, anything is possible in the finale. As seen in MasterChef Season 13, Grant Gillon pulled out a near perfect beer inspired meal. It showcased him as a cook and excited the judges with his creativity. The home cook who can accomplish that scenario will earn the title.
