After braving the intensity of the Insidious haunted house and discovering all the Easter Eggs in the Ghostbusters Afterlife haunted house, Halloween Horror Nights 33 guests have a voracious appetite that needs to be satisfied. From hearty dishes to sweet treats, there is a bounty of food options to satisfy every craving.

The annual Halloween Horror Nights event is more than just terrifying moments that linger in the mind for days, maybe months, to come. While everyone has been cautioned to never go alone, the reality is that the seasonal event is more than just jump scares and screams. It is a time to step out of the comfort zone and embrace the moment.

That sentiment applies to the food feast at this year’s event. While there are several food influenced haunted houses and scare zone scenes, the breadth and depth of the Halloween Horror Nights 33 menu ensures that every craving, desire, and hunger is satisfied.

Prior to opening night, Chef Jens Dahlmann, VP, Executive Chef, Culinary Operations at Universal Orlando Resort, explained how the culinary team’s inspiration behind this year’s menu. From visually compelling dishes to inclusive food choices, every detail was carefully crafted to ensure the best possible experience for every guest.

Top dishes at Halloween Horror Nights 33

Like previous years, this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 33 menu divided into themed locations. Most are based on the various haunted houses. Additionally, classic HHN fare, like Twister Taters, have their own stop. While everyone will have their own favorites, opinions, and takes, these top dishes, must try bites were based on opening night.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: Mini Stay-Puft S'more

Probably the most photographed food, the Mini Stay-Puff S’more is a delight in its simplest form. While the visual is clear, there is something simply satisfying about the combination of marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker.

To be fair, this dish does take time for the culinary team to plate. For anyone wanting one, it is a time consuming process.

Beet Tostada

Monstrous: The Monsters of Latin America: Heart "Beet" Toastada

Over the years, the Universal culinary team has showcased that vegetarian dishes can be highlight of the seasonal menu. The beet tostada is a hearty dish. The crisp tortilla contrasts the tender beets. Every bite is beating with bold flavor. Even the carnivores will appreciate this dish.

Mini Wooden Board Eclair

A Quiet Place: Wooden Board Éclair

Enjoying food from A Quiet Place is more than just placing another order. Heading down the dimly lit corridor requires guests to pick up their order without uttering a word. It is another example of the immersive component of the HHN food menu.

The Wooden Board Éclair has a spicy component that is a slow burn. The flavor is like the cinnamon from a Hot Tamale candy or a Fireball. It sneaks up on you, just like those scary creatures that are hunting in the night.

Goblin’s Feast: Harissa BBQ Turkey Wing

While many people enjoy a turkey leg at a theme park, the Harissa BBQ Turkey Wing is all about the sauce. That slow burn of the harissa with a classic BBQ is quite enticing. Plus, it is a big size, a goblin approved value.

Insidious: The Further: Eggs in the Further

Probably the most unusual offering at HHN, this version of a classic toad in the hole is worth a try. It is about the shakshouka. Consider eating this dish as the last bite of the night, just like the late night stop at a diner that fuels the ride home.

Poison Apple

Major Sweet Candy Factory: Poison Apple

While a candied apple might be a fall and Halloween staple, this dessert has a secret hidden on that stick. Instead of another sticky, gooey mess, this dessert looks like a candied apple but has a soft, creamy center. The caramel mousse is combined with an apple pie filling and streusel cake. It is terrifically tempting.

These HHN 33 food items are just a small sampling of the expansive menu. Food, beverages, and lots of scary fun are waiting in the fog. Ready to choose your path?

Halloween Horror Nights 33 runs now through November 3 on select nights at Universal Studios Orlando. Check with the website for tickets and more information.
