Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Breadsticks hit menus for a limited time
While Lobsterfest and Endless Shrimp might be the ocean’s catch, a meal at Red Lobster is not complete without its iconic side dish, Cheddar Bay Biscuits. Even though Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Breadsticks are only around for April 1, someone needs to make a petition to keep them longer.
In a recent company announcement, the popular restaurant brand announced that Cheddar Bay Breadsticks would be available in the New York City Times Square location. For those familiar, it is the same location that has hosted several of the brand’s special events.
Speaking to this special offering, Sara Bittorf, Chief Experience Officer at Red Lobster said, "We've won over the hearts and stomachs of our guests for more than 30 years with Cheddar Bay Biscuits and it got us thinking – why isn't there more Cheddar Bay in the world. So, we're introducing a whole new level of 'dough-liciousness' to the table and have no doubt our new Cheddar Bay Breadsticks will rise to the occasion."
While some people will run to get that warm, cheesy bread for the one day only, the idea is not necessarily a fool’s errand. Could the restaurant brand actually make breadsticks out of those biscuits, of course. Would guests want a bread item that they could dunk in that soup or sauce, most definitely. Maybe enough people will be vocal enough to make this idea more than a one-day only special.
Additionally, this idea is something that Cheddar Bay Biscuits fans could do on their own. The biscuit mix is available in stores. Changing the shape is easy enough to accomplish. The baking time will be different, but the idea is doable.
Could Olive Garden retaliate in a new food war if Red Lobster tries to take over their breadstick monopoly, maybe. Still, there is no “knead” to start another food battle in the kitchen. There is plenty of room to let all the carbs rise to the occasion on the table.
The Cheddar Bay Breadsticks will be available from noon till 7 p.m. at Red Lobster's New York City Times Square location on April 1 only. Maybe the real trick is that this idea is a menu test that guests might see in the future.
