Favorite Subway sauces are coming to grocery store shelves
While the bread aroma welcomes guests as they walk through the quick service restaurant door, the Subway sauces on those subs take a footlong’s flavor from boring to bold. Now some of those favorite tastes can transform food served from the home kitchen.
Certain flavors are associated with a particular quick service restaurant. For example, there is a reason why some roast beef satisfies more with a little drizzle of Roasted Garlic Aioli. Although those favorite quick service restaurant sauces make for a complete bite, people might want to enjoy that taste beyond the bread.
Collaborating with T. Marzetti Company, Subway is launching four new sauces that will be available at grocery stores and other retailers. The four sauce flavors are Sweet Onion Teriyaki, Roasted Garlic Aioli, Baja Chipotle, and Creamy Italian MVP.
According to said Paul Fabre, Senior Vice President, Culinary and Innovation at Subway, “Subway fans love our signature sauces. Three of the new retail sauces – Sweet Onion Teriyaki, Roasted Garlic Aioli and Baja Chipotle – are inspired by guests’ in-restaurant favorites, and we’ve added an exclusive flavor to this collection with a Creamy Italian MVP, a new twist on Subway’s MVP Parmesan Vinaigrette. This partnership takes our sauces to another level and enables our fans to take their culinary creations from ordinary to extraordinary while also contributing to an important cause.”
Looking at the four flavors, the Subway sauces are approachable to a wide range of applications. From dipping to cooking, each one invites cooks to see how they can transform food with bold flavor. Whether it is a drizzle over chicken in a noodle bowl or maybe a marinade for pork, cooks can explore their culinary creativity.
Specifically, the Sweet Onion Teriyaki is a sauce that is and will continue to be associated with Subway. People cannot get enough of that flavor. By adding it to the retail space, people can satisfy that craving in a different way.
Even though some people might question whether it would take away from people heading to the restaurant to purchase that sub, it might reaffirm fans connection to the love of those subs. This idea has worked well for other quick service restaurant brands and it should have the same impact for Subway.
While the flavors will drive purchases, it is an interesting choice to highlight that proceeds from sauce sales will go to Fresh Start Scholarship Fund. Although this food launch focuses on bringing favorite flavors to the retail consumer, the charitable component can sway some purchases. Consumers look to align with food brands with similar interests and beliefs. When a purchase can give back, it can be an incentive to choose one brand over another.
How will cooks use the new Subway sauces? There are some recipe inspiration ideas available online. In addition, many people will probably take to social media to share their food ideas.
Subway sauces will be available at various grocery and retail stores, including Walmart, Kroger, and Albertson’s. The four flavors are sold in 16-oz bottles. Check with retailers for pricing.
