Taco Bell Cheesy Street Chalupas are inspired by street food flavors

From late night cravings to whenever the hunger hits, the newest menu innovation at everyone’s favorite Mexican quick service restaurant has people wanting to order more. The new Taco Bell Cheesy Street Chalupas, inspired by street food, are here and they might be the best menu launch this summer.

The two word tag line, Live Mas, might be featured on many of the Taco Bell ads but that simple phrase embodies more than just embracing all of life’s best moments, tastes, and opportunities. Young, old and everyone in between appreciate that life is better when it comes with the boldest flavors. That “mas” attitude is all encompassing.

With the newest menu item hitting restaurants, the Taco Bell Cheesy Street Chalupas capture that “mas” moment. After a test in October 2023, guests’ responses proved that this menu item needed a nationwide rollout.

While the Chalupas has had many forms on the Taco Bell menu, this latest version borrows from the classic street taco. Anyone who has had those simple food offerings appreciate that it is more than just a quick bite. Those delicious tacos can sometimes outshine even the best chefs. It is something about the time and dedication that these food vendors put into their craft that makes that bite taste amazing.

As Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell's Vice President, Product Innovation said, "The Chalupa has taken many delicious forms over the years, but with the Cheesy Street Chalupas, we set out to create a new flavor-rich way for fans to enjoy the beloved menu item. The fresh onions and cilantro atop layers of cheese and premium proteins seasoned to perfection adds a different flavor profile and is our playful nod to the street taco that we all know and love."

To clarify, the food offering starts with chalupa shells that have been stuffed with melted mozzarella and pepperjack cheeses. Filled with premium proteins, as well as traditional street taco ingredients of cilantro and onions, the bite is hearty. Whether guests choose from slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled, marinated steak, either option is a delectable choice.

Although this menu item is a limited time offer, there are plenty of deals to run and get that first taste. For example, delivery orders of $25 or more via the Taco Bell app can get a free Cheesy Street Chalupa. That item is available from August 1 through August 4.
