Every season, the Top Chef finale journeys to a stunning locale, which influences the remaining challenges that stand between the chefs and the coveted food television title. The Top Chef Season 21 finale whisks the cheftestants away from Wisconsin’s frozen tundra for a Caribbean escape on Holland America Line’s Eurodam.

Top Chef is more than just another food television competition. Bravo’s celebrated show has taken award winning, celebrated chefs and given them a worldwide platform to showcase their talents. Many of today’s most sought-after chefs have battled their way through Quickfires and Elimination Challenges.

While the platform is tremendous exposure for the chefs, it is equally important for each season’s location. Food is a vital component to travel decisions. Many people seek out the restaurants and locations featured in each season. It is one of the reasons why many cities and states covet the possibility of hosting Top Chef.

Although one location is highlighted for the season, each finale journeys to another locale. From cooking in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower to exploring the markets of Macau, the production team balances vibrant experiences with destinations that viewers want to visit. Similar to how the show effectively integrates all its brand partnerships, viewers want to see themselves experiencing that culinary moment.

For the Top Chef Season 21 finale, the location is a first for the iconic food television series. Filmed on location aboard Holland America Line’s Eurodam, the chefs enjoyed ship’s experiences, were influenced by the Caribbean itinerary, and had a once in a lifetime meal prepared by Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Holland America Line’s Fresh Fish Ambassador.

Explaining the importance of the Holland America Line and Top Chef partnership, Jamie Cutburth, Executive Vice President, Creative Partnerships, Advertising and Partnerships, NBCUniversal said, “For two decades, Bravo’s ‘Top Chef’ has united fans over a love for food, travel and culture. And throughout the show's iconic legacy, we've been collaborating with brands to elevate each season of the award-winning culinary competition. This incredible collaboration with Holland America Line will deliver a unique opportunity for fans to see the final four cheftestants get a taste of vacation and fresh fish as they make their journey to see who earns the title of ‘Top Chef.’”

While viewers will have to watch the intricacies of the penultimate Top Chef Season 21 episode, airing on June 12, this Holland America Line and Top Chef collaboration is more than just a series of challenges and enticing imagery. It is a clear example how a food television show can connect with fans beyond the screen.

With the cruising industry surging, many people are ready, willing, and able to step on board and sail away into a blissful vacation. Enticing ports of call and entertainment might keep people engaged, but it is the food and beverage experiences that differentiate one cruise brand from another. The Top Chef connection to Holland America Line should influence that discerning food traveler who wants an elevated dining experience.

Discussing this collaboration, Gus Antorcha, president, Holland America Line, said, “We are highly focused on providing our guests with exceptional culinary experiences, and teaming up with Bravo’s ‘Top Chef’ is an incredible opportunity to not only bring attention to our Global Fresh Fish Program, but to give a glimpse into cruising. It was exciting to bring Chef Morimoto on Eurodam to prepare a meal for the cheftestants and showcase some of his dishes we serve on board.”

As seen on the upcoming Top Chef Season 21 episode, Holland America Line’s Global Fresh Fish Program and Chef Morimoto’s signature dishes will be featured. The highly regarded fish program is a signature for the cruise line and showcases its commitment to offering the freshest ingredients from local sources. It is another layer in the cruise company’s commitment to sustainable food choices.

Given Chef Morimoto’s long-standing passion for highlighting fresh fish, his dishes celebrate beautiful proteins while bringing a taste of his signature style. For example, his signature Halibut XO dish is approachable for the guest who might be unfamiliar with the Asian sauce and exceeds expectations for diners who are familiar with Chef Morimoto’s nuanced flavors.

While this Top Chef and Holland America partnership makes a splash on the Season 21 finale, many fans will hope that the episodes are just a taste of what could be a longstanding collaboration. Given that themed cruises are extremely popular, could a Top Chef itinerary happen in the future. Only time will tell.

Be sure to watch the Top Chef Season 21 finale on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It can be streamed the next day on Peacock.
