Universal Destinations journey to the Emerald City with Wicked immersive experiences

A new spell is transforming Universal Destinations which will make the theme parks even more popular with its guests. The upcoming Wicked immersive experiences will have guests excited to step into both Glinda’s and Elphaba’s magical world.

With the highly anticipated Universal Pictures Wicked coming to theaters November 22, Universal Destinations, specifically Universal Orlando Resorts and Universal Studios Hollywood, will transform prime locations into a taste of the vibrant Wicked world.

The iconic musical has captivated audiences for decades. The story of Elphaba’s and Glinda’s friendship and their growth as individuals is more than just a coming of age tale. The universality of the themes make this story more than soaring ballads and a cutting retort. It is a musical that unites ages, demographics, and even the non-musical fan.

While many people can sing every lyric to "Defying Gravity" or "Popular," the story and its characters resonate beyond the chords that have audiences sitting on the edge of their seat. Many people appreciate the outsider who overcomes the societal norms or the popular girl who sees the errors of her ways. As people come to learn, because of others people are stronger together.

To celebrate Wicked’s adaptation to the screen, Universal Destinations offers guests immersive experiences to welcome guests into the Emerald City. It might not necessarily have an encounter with the Wizard, but it will have people humming a happy note at the end of the day.

In this sliver of the Land of Oz, guests will be transported to both Shiz University and Emerald City. From movie props to costumes, it brings a taste of that movie magic to the real world.

Additionally, the Universal Culinary Team has been inspired to create special food and beverages. The themed dining allows guests to savor that moment and celebrate that experience beyond just one short day. It might not have people dancing through the theme park, but these sweet treats will put a little pep in people’s steps.

The specialty offerings will be available in the theme parks as well as locations in City Walk. Both Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen as well as Voodoo Doughnuts will feature specialty food items in the Wicked theme.

Also, there will be a wide range of merchandise available for purchase. Several of the items will be Universal exclusive products.

The Wicked immersive experiences will come to both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood in late October. Exact opening dates will be announced in the future.
