Walmart+ members get big savings on their Burger King orders
The old saying about membership having its privileges has another example in the food world. Announced today, Walmart+ members are getting a big benefit at Burger King. Ready to have it your way at BK?
Consumers are searching for value in every food purchase. After dealing with shrinkflation, rising costs, and a variety of pricing issues, frustration has run high. People have shut their wallets and waited for the savings to roll out.
Membership programs entice consumers with special promotions, deals, and other offers to make that annual purchase seem worthwhile. Walmart+ members receive benefits beyond shopping in the store or online. From access to Paramount+ to Expedia discounts, the reality is that consumers see the value of paying that membership fee.
The newest partnership is an interesting extension of the Walmart+ member. Speaking about this announcement, Venessa Yates, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+ said, “We consistently strive to offer benefits that focus on our members, aligning with our commitment to deliver undeniable value and convenience. We're confident our members will welcome the additional savings, and we're thrilled to collaborate with a trusted brand like Burger King to offer this benefit.”
What is included in the Walmart+ and Burger King offer?
According to Walmart, the Walmart+ members will receive 25% off any Burger King digital order. The offer is available every day.
Additionally, members can receive a free flame-grilled Whopper. This free food offer will begin in September and will be available every three months with any purchase. It does not qualify a specific spend amount.
To redeem these special discounts, users need to link their BK app and the Walmart+ membership. The offers will appear in the app.
This concept seems to be beneficial for both Walmart and Burger King. Studies show that consumers are still eating out multiple times a week, even in these cost-conscious times. If Walmart and Burger King can monitor how and when people make these purchases, they can adapt their promotions to take advantage of the consumer spending.
A similar idea has happened with Instacart and Uber Eats. Those two brands partnered to expand consumers’ options with online ordering. When one company can offer seamless, one stop shop ordering, they can earn a loyal customer base.
Could other brands follow behind Walmart and Burger King? The idea seems quite plausible. Although it seems unlikely that McDonald’s or Chick-fil-A would jump on board, other popular quick service restaurants might throw their hat in the ring. Only time will tell if a Kroger or other stores will find a strategic quick service restaurant partner.
The annual Walmart+ membership is $98 a year or $12.95 a month. The service includes a variety of in store and other promotional benefits.
