Sugar cookie takes over as the trending holiday flavor
This year’s trending holiday flavor is definitely the simple sugar cookie. From beverages to candy, that classic dessert is reimagined in delicious ways.
Home bakers have rolled, cut, and decorated sugar cookies holiday season after season. Even though some brands, like Pillsbury and Betty Crocker, simplify the baking process, those colorful, sweet cookies have become a holiday tradition.
Now that flavor has infused its deliciousness into a wide array of food offerings. From beverages to candy, the simple sugar cookie is everywhere.
Dunkin is a great example. While the food brand will always be making donuts, it is now selling sugar cookies. The Decorated Shortbread Cookies hit stores on December 4, National Cookie Day.
As seen in the photo, the holiday sugar cookies look like a Strawberry Frosted Sprinkle Donut. While it is a fun visual, the flavor delivers what people crave. It is a lovely sandy cookie with that extra burst of sweetness. Plus, who can resist sprinkles.
This is the second sugar cookie flavored offering on the Dunkin menu. Earlier this season, Holiday Cookie Signature Latte arrived. It captured that sweet, slightly butter flavor in the best possible way. Whether paired with a cookie, doughnut or drunk on its own, it captures the holiday festivities.
Another favorite food has been transformed with sugar cookie flavor. The newest Reese’s candy, Reese’s Sugar Cookie, blends two holiday favorites into a single bite.
The sweet candy has a little extra crunch folded into the creamy peanut butter center. While the cookie like pieces add some texture, it is the sugary sweetness that satisfies.
With these candies, consider a twist on those traditional thumbprint style cookies. A simple sugar cookie with a Reese’s Sugar Cookie cup on top is quite tasty. It works well with a chocolate cookie or even spice cookie, too.
Even the freezer aisle is getting a sugar cookie takeover. For example, Blue Bunny added Frosted Sugar Cookie Scoopables. The specialty flavor combines sugar cookies and soft serve. Why choose one dessert when two flavors in a single spoonful is even more delicious.
Lastly, Starbucks at Home has a great option that allows everyone to enjoy a little cookie infusion into the coffee. The new Starbucks Non-dairy Sugar Cookie Latte Flavored Creamer is inspired by the Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte. Whether paired with a cookie or enjoyed on its own, it gives that pick me up a little bit of holiday magic.
These items are just a small selection of the sugar cookie infused food items available to enjoy this holiday season. Santa might get all the cookies on his big night, but cookie flavors bring the smiles every day.
