While there will always be a place for tacos and even that Chalupa, the Crunchwrap Supreme has been a fan favorite for almost a decade. As part of Taco Bell TBX program, three celebrated chefs have created their Crunchwrap Supremes. Which one could be the next great menu item?

Taco Bell has been focusing on menu innovation. While it has brought back some nostalgic items to food fans delight, bringing new, exciting, and different flavor combinations showcases the versatility of the Taco Bell staple menu items. A little twist can turn a favorite into something even more craveable.

Available in New York City on October 16 and 17, the reimagined Crunchwrap Supremes are a collaboration between the Taco Bell Test Kitchen and three rising chefs, Reuben Asaram, Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin and Lawrence “LT” Smith.

Speaking about this special food offering, Taco Bell Global Chief Food Innovation Officer, Liz Matthews said, “We’ve long tried to push the boundaries of what culinary creativity can mean and our collaboration with these leading chefs allows us to honor different culinary traditions while creating bold, new bites that are distinctly Taco Bell. Our mantra for TBX has been ‘Our thing + their thing = a whole new kind of thing’ and we’re so excited to share these reimagined Crunchwrap Supremes with fans.”

What are the Taco Bell reimagined Crunchwrap Supremes flavors?

The three special food items are: Chef Reuben’s Indian Buffet Crunchwrap Supreme, Chef Jenn’s Crispy Thai Noodle Crunchwrap Supreme, and Chef LT’s Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap Supreme. As the menu names suggest, these are not the typical Taco Bell offerings.

First, Chef Reuben’s Indian Buffet Crunchwrap Supreme brings together a multitude of flavors. From the tomato curry to the cucumber mint sauce, the contrast of spice forward and cooling balance is clear. The Mexican rice brings all the flavors together in a Taco Bell way. Plus, the crunchwrap can include chicken or be vegetarian.

Chef Jenn’s Crispy Thai Noodle Crunchwrap Supreme gets its crunch factor from a wheat noodle. With a khao soi aioli and avocado basil ranch, it is a lovely marriage between the two cuisines. The flavor combination might not be expected, but they work.

Lastly, Chef LT’s Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap Supreme takes a chicken nugget and turns it on its head. It might be slightly familiar but that apricot hot sauce is a taste that is unlike any other menu item.

While these reimagined Crunchwrap Supremes are available for a limited time, guest response could weigh the possibility of future availability. It might not necessarily be these chef-driven varieties, but more Crunchwrap flavors would be welcome on a Taco Bell menu.
