Fast food fans are a vocal bunch. When a favorite menu item disappears, the response is immediate. From Change.org petitions to social media pleas, restaurant brands pay attention and shift their focus. For people who love KFC Potato Wedges, they better tell everyone they know in Tampa to order and order often.

According to a KFC announcement, Potato Wedges are back on the menu for just two weeks, or while supplies last. At five select Tampa restaurants, the crispy, tender, spud-tastic food is available.

Catherine Tan Gillespie, President, KFC U.S said, “Our fans have commented, tweeted, and even petitioned for the return of KFC Potato Wedges, and we’re thrilled to deliver on those feisty requests to bring them back to Tampa for a short time. Tampa, it’s up to you if we bring them back nationally. No pressure!”

KFC potato wedges have been off the menu for six years. Whether people recall the balanced spices or the way the crispy edges give way to the tender, almost fluffy center, the side pairs with anything on the menu.

Additionally, the Potato Wedges are delicious when served with a dip. From the tangy Comeback Sauce to a simple creamy ranch, it can be fun to play with the flavor combinations. Even drizzling them with the signature gravy would be tasty.

Since this food is back for a limited time, it deserves a big moment. Hopefully, some Tampa guests will discover a fun menu hack that will impress the KFC leadership. Given that some new KFC menu items are rooted in food items that are already on the menu, it could be a reason to bring the Potato Wedges back permanently.

For example, the KFC Bowls have been a hit. Why not swap mashed potatoes for the wedges. Wrapping them up in a tortilla would be tasty. Or, maybe it is time for a version of quick service restaurant poutine.

While many people will be eagerly awaiting Tampa’s response, choosing that Florida city is interesting. No one is expecting KFC to launch a menu comeback in Louisville, but Tampa is not necessarily the hotbed for fast food.

When the questioned, why Tampa, a brand representative said, “Many factors go into selecting test markets, including representation of national QSR consumer trends for gauging customer feedback." As Tampa goes, so does the country.

For the next two weeks or while supplies last, the following locations will be serving KFC Potato Wedges:

1605 W. Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33606

770 34th Street, N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713

4402 W. Gandy Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33611

3105 Havendale Boulevard, Auburndale, FL 33823

1492 N. Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33830

One thing is clear, KFC Potato Wedges fans better hope that the Tampa area is hungry for some spuds. Everyone has their fingers crossed for a larger comeback in the near future.
