The idea of stopping, putting the day on pause, or otherwise letting the to-do list take a back seat are notions that can cause panic. Stopping the momentum is a concept that feels uncertain or even scary. Turtles, the creamy, crunchy, and chocolatey candy wants everyone to appreciate the pause and indulge in the present.
In today’s busy world, people are less inclined to stop. To-go food is surging in popularity. It is more than the coffee drunk on the way to work or the occasional drive-through. Small, snack sized bites, eaten quickly are part of the routine.
While those food moments might be convenient, there is an enjoyment, even an art, to choosing to stop and eat. Being present is an opportunity to actually an opportunity the flavor, texture, and deliciousness in every bite.
Turtles, the classic chocolate, caramel, and pecan candy, is a treat that is best enjoyed slowly. No one is saying that it should take a hour to eat one piece. But, this candy is the bite that cannot be rushed.
As Ahad Afridi, Chief Marketing Officer at pladis Americas said, "With layers of rich chocolate, creamy caramel and crunchy pecans, you simply can't eat Turtles fast – it's an experience meant to be slowly savored. We all feel like the world moves too fast – which is why we commissioned a survey to see just how big of a problem this is. We learned that the brand's message to slow down and enjoy the present is one that most of us could benefit from hearing."
According to the brand’s survey, “over 93% of Millennial and Gen Z Americans feel like they're living a hectic lifestyle and don't have enough time to slow down. And when they do find time to slow down, over 83% feel happier, calmer, or more present.” That stop does not have to be a week getaway in Mexico. Even just a few minutes to step away from the screen can be beneficial.
To encourage everyone to take that moment, Turtles partnered with Sha'Carri Richardson to celebrate its “It’s Slow Good” campaign. While the fastest woman in the world, Olympic Gold Medalist, and current 100m World Champion knows how to race to the finish line, she appreciates those slower moments, too. For her, it is a moment to celebrate those wins, even if they happen in a flash.
While others might not be quite as quick as Richardson, everyone can join in her appreciation of slow moments. From enjoying one of those Turtles candies to even sharing one with a friend, sometimes life’s slowest moments are the winning ones. The old fable comes to mind. Slow, steady, and satisfying always wins the race.
