Easter and eggs have been “hoppy” forever friends. While traditional eggs will always have their place, other fun, sweet options can hatch holiday traditions. For Vanessa Lachey, Kinder Joy will be filling her baskets. From a prize in a hunt to a sweet ending to a meal, the treat with a toy is always a hit with all ages.

Recently, Vanessa Lachey collaborated with Kinder Joy as host of the brand’s Eggstravaganza experience. The special NYC event brings together all ages for an epic hunt.

Through her partnership with the food brand, Vanessa Lachey graciously answered some questions about her Easter traditions, why her family loves Kinder Joy, and how she prioritizes family time.

Cristine Struble: Do you have any Easter basket traditions? Do they tie to your childhood experiences?

Vanessa Lachey: I have a unique outlook on traditions. My parents divorced when I was young. My mother left and my dad was always overseas in the military so I don’t have many traditions. As a mother myself, I loved the idea of creating my own family traditions. Having something for my kids to look forward to and maybe pass down to their kids. I figured, why not start with “me”? So, I created my own traditions, from scratch.. and then wrote a book about it.

CS: As a mom of three, do you keep the baskets equal for everyone, or do you add some customized elements? Do kids ever get too old for Easter baskets?

VL: I have the same basket for each kid since they were one and they are never too old to enjoy in the surprises. It’s funny because my oldest son has the biggest basket, that’s just how it worked out, but I always fill them equally, to an extent. I never know what surprises they get in their Kinder Joy eggs, so that’s fun to watch their little faces and reactions. I do also try to personalize some of their favorite hobbies or colors or books at the time and incorporate it into each kids’ basket.

CS: What are some creative ways that you use Kinder Joy in your Easter celebrations?

VL: I of course use them in my kids’ Easter baskets. They add so much fun to the basket. A perfect combination of a treat on one side and a toy on the other! Also, not knowing which toy is part of the fun. I always have a dessert station that doubles as decor. Scattering Kinder Joy eggs all around adds color, yumminess and a fun takeaway for my guests to grab and go.

CS: Kinder Joy is hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza. What can guests expect at that NYC event?

VL: I am so excited to host this Easter Eggstravaganza with Kinder Joy! Guests can expect surprises around each corner, sharing in the Joy of Easter and of course my favorite, THE HUNT! Every year I host Easter and our guest look forward to our annual hunt. You have to find your four personalized eggs then, and only then, can you search for the golden egg, with money in it! Kids and adults running around the yard is hilarious to watch every year!

CS: Why do you think that it is important for families to make spending time together a priority? Are there ways that you get your kids engaged in those family activities?

VL: I am a true believer in living in the moment and celebrating all things. Life is beautiful and when we can share it with those we love we create memories and moments we can fondly look back on. That is why tradition is so important to me. It grounds my family, no matter where we are or how old my kids are, we all know what traditions we can look forward to. Easter is a special one for us, Daddy is always the Easter bunny. The kids now know and love partaking in him hopping around the yard for other little every year. It’s the little things we will all remember at the end of the day. And the things that will keep our family memories alive.

Whether it is Easter, a weekly dinner, or just a regular day, adding a little egg-tastic fun with Kinder Joy is a great choice for all ages. Ready to crack one open today?
