Love sour candy? The annual Sweets and Snacks Expo has candy fans salivating over all the new offerings. The gathering of all the candy and snack companies showcases the newest trends that will be hitting store shelves over the next year. What can food fans expect? Sour candies are everywhere.
Food trends are always evolving. While familiarity can be comforting, new and innovative flavors bring excitement to the food world. Whether it is a new flavor or a new format, the new can get people to try something different.

At this year’s Sweets and Snack Expo, the sour is everywhere. While not exactly a new flavor trend, candy companies are finding innovative ways to bring that punchy sour flavor to favorite candy brands. If you like the pucker, the candy shelves are going to be filled with products for you.
While many companies offer sour candies, a few of my favorites from this year’s show were Big Chewy Nerds, Haribo Zing Sours, and Baby Bottle Gummy Blast. Although these candies might not be on your store shelves tomorrow, these candies are definitely must tries for sour candy fans.

The Big Chewy Nerds bring that classic Nerds taste with a gummy center. The outside crunch with chewy center offer a great contrast of texture. It is hard to eat just a few of these candies.
The Haribo Zing Sours are a new offering from the classic gummy bear company. Available in two different shapes and flavors, these candies are a mellow sour flavor. Still, a sour bite, but not that lip smacking pucker that is over powering.
The most fun sour product is the Baby Bottle Gummy Blast. Anyone who has kids knows how much they love the Baby Bottle candies. This version offers a gummy baby bottles that are dipped into sour popping powder. It’s an interactive candy that is fun to eat.
Other sour candy highlights include Trolli Dip’ Crawlers, Sour Punch Wild Bites, Starburst mini sours and Mike and Ike Mega Mix Sour.
