Pineapple cocktails have taken over your Instagram feed. How did pineapple become the summer’s most Instagrammable cocktails?

Pineapple cocktails are popping up everywhere. The summer’s most Instagrammable cocktails can vary from a simple martini to a flaming punch. For summer, pineapples are a popular fruit flavor. The tropical flavor can make people think of crashing waves, sandy beaches and warm breezes. Even if that perfect vacation didn’t happen, one of these cocktails could make you feel like you’re on a getaway.

The pineapple trend isn’t just limited to cocktails. Pineapples have popped up on clothing, accessories and almost everywhere. Just take a look around and you will start noticing the trend.

While the pineapple is hot right now, this tropical fruit has been a symbol of hospitality and welcomeness. From the traditional doorknocker to other home décor, the pineapple conveys a sense of goodwill. Ever wonder why a particular house is always so friendly and welcoming?

For those wishing to feel a sense of welcoming this summer, a pineapple cocktail is a great way to celebrate the pineapple trend. Patron has just launched its newest flavor, Patrón Citrónge Pineapple. This flavor is part of its Citron line. The flavor uses “Piña Miel” pineapples, which are from Veracruz. The tequila flavor is slightly sweet yet tropical forward. A whiff from the bottle could have you thinking of your next vacation.

To celebrate the pineapple trend, Patron partnered with a couple mixologists to create some delicious cocktails. The La Piña Swizzle, available at Winnie’s Jazz Bar inside the Refinery Hotel and the Patrón Mini Pineapple Piña Colada, available at The Fat Monk, are two cocktails that use this new Patron tequila.

Since not everyone can travel to New York City for the La Piña Swizzle, Patron was willing to share the recipe. Here’s how to make La Piña Swizzle

While the pineapple trend has taken off across the country, Hawaii has always been proud of its pineapple heritage. In honor of the pineapple, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is launching its eco, “pineapple-themed” initiatives. As part of a pineapple plantation, the resort uses pineapple in many creative ways. Both its savory and cocktail menus feature the tropical fruit.

The onsite restaurant, Banyan Tree Restaurant lead by Maui Chef of the Year for 2018, Head Chef Alvin Savella, has created some delicious, yet unexpected dishes for this summer. Choices like pineapple sausage skewers highlight the local ingredient as well as show a commitment to eco-friendly initiatives with its use of excess pineapple exterior to serve the dish.

This restaurant’s contribution to the summer’s most Instagrammable cocktails is a cocktail served in a whole pineapple. While this cocktail is just one of many at the restaurant, the picture perfect presentation is one to remember.

If you are lucky enough to visit The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, pineapple isn’t just limited to the food that you eat and drink. The spa uses pineapple in its treatments. Also, the onsite pineapple patch and herb garden help the resort’s eco-friendly and sustainability goals. Everywhere you look the hospital of the pineapple is on display.
