More importantly, the brand feels a special connection with its customers and fans. The creation of The Isaac, the brand’s first “Impact Pizza” is an example how this pizza brand is making a difference in the community.
The story of The Isaac pizza is an emotional one. Isaac was a Naperville, Illinois customer who loved MOD Pizza. He was well known to the staff at the Naperville location. Sadly, Isaac committed suicide last year. While this tragedy is difficult, the sad ending can lead to a positive conversation.

According to Jenn Pedley, Isaac’s mother “MOD was Isaac’s happy place. A place where he felt loved and accepted, without question. A place where, when I knew he was there, I could exhale knowing he was in a good place. The culture of acceptance they have created is not only forging a new kind of restaurant, but an empowering environment where people can go above and beyond to make a difference.”

This profound statement by a grieving family shows that restaurants aren’t just empty spaces that serve food. The pizza is a partnership with The Jed Foundation (JED) which is a “leading nonprofit that exists to protect emotional health and prevent suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults.” The brand hopes that this special pizza will help to start the conversation on mental health as well as support JED’s programs.
The Isaac Pizza “an olive oil base, topped with garlic, ricotta cheese, sliced red onion, roasted red tomatoes, finished with a swirl of Balsamic vinaigrette and topped with a sprinkle of fresh basil.” Even if this pizza wouldn’t normally be your particular go-to pizza, the worthy cause is definitely a reason to purchase this special pizza.
While the subject of this “Impact Pizza” is a difficult one, it is a topic that shouldn’t be overlooked. Even just a conversation with friends and family shared while eating a pizza can be impactful.
