The Food Network Star finale airs tonight. Which of the three remaining finalists will join the Food Network family?

Tonight airs the Food Network Star finale. Only one of the three finalists will become the newest star on the Food Network. With three very different finalists, which finalist has all the components to become a successful Food Network star?

According to the Food Network, this week’s synopsis states:

"The pilots are in, and Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay determine the fates of the three finalists. Watch what happens behind the scenes and find out who will join the Food Network family and become a Food Network Star!"

The three finalists are Manny, Jess and Christian. Each finalist has a very different culinary point of view as well as personality. It will be interesting to see if the winner will be chosen based on culinary point of view, personality or fan base. Those three different components might have a different answer. Still, only of these finalists will earn the title.

Looking at the three finalists, it is difficult to say that one person is the clear winner. Each finalist fits a niche that the Food Network needs. Manny appeals to the every man. His personality is welcoming and so many people like comfort food/classic American fare. The down side is that the Food Network has similar shows on this topic. For example, the Grill Dads, who won the Guy Fieri competition, have a show called Comfort Food Tour.

Jess has a wonderful ability to describe food and has great food authority. She can entice a view to eat or crave a dish with her words. But, is that a show? How can the Food Network create a non-travel based show on her culinary point of view?

Christian is clearly a talented chef. While he hasn’t mastered “tasting” on camera, he has the cooking talent and the on-air experience to be on the Food Network. He has been on several other Food Network shows. Was this competition a vehicle to build him a fan base?

While all these questions are valid, the bigger question is the winner’s role on the Food Network. Last year’s winner, Jason Smith, is a co-host on Best Baker in America. That show is great and a lot of fans love it. Still, some of Smith’s fans wanted him to have his own show. Will this season’s winner get his/her own show?
