Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 4 exclusive preview: Sorry isn’t the hardest word
In this exclusive Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 4 exclusive preview clip, sorry isn’t the hardest word for Bret. It’s the only word that he says.
Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 4 might have a winter theme, but the chefs seem to have been consumed by the chilly atmosphere in the kitchen. No amount of heat from the kitchen can reduce the icy stares that one chef is getting from his team. Could the winds of change cause another chef to go up in flames?
According to FOX, the synopsis for this week’s episodes states:
"The chefs compete in a sled race for an advantage in the upcoming challenge, during which the two teams prepare winter soups; Chef Ramsay makes and extreme change in the teams."
The winter soup challenge could be interesting viewing for home cooks. Who doesn’t love a bowl of warm, comforting soup on a chilly day? But, soup takes a long time to develop flavor. Will these chefs be able to develop a robust, flavorful soup under the time constraints?

The second tidbit of interesting information from this synopsis is the “extreme change.” Could this statement allude to veterans versus rookies teams being changed? It is really early in the Hell’s Kitchen season for such a big change.

Currently, the two teams are even in numbers. The change could be one or two chefs switching sides. Right now, neither team seems to have a smooth, confident rhythm in the kitchen. Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be a clear leader.
While Mia has stepped up in the rookies’ kitchen, the other chefs don’t seem to respect her. The veterans’ kitchen seems wrapped up in their personal egos. Without solid teamwork, service mistakes will continue.
Last week saw Jen quit the competition (or told to leave, depending on your view). That service meltdown will definitely become a Hell’s Kitchen “remember when” moment. While the veterans recovered, the competitors’ moods still seem quite contentious.
Additionally, Bret, winner of the punishment pass, redeemed his pass last week. While most people believed that this redemption was way too early, his words might be coming back to bite him. Bret stated that the veterans weren’t going to lose again.
Unfortunately, in this Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 4 exclusive preview clip, it looks like Bret needs to eat his words.
First, I do respect Bret for apologizing. Sure, emotional Bret is back, but that characteristic can become his downfall. Standing up for a mistake in the kitchen is important, but he needs to let the mistake go (whatever that mistake was).
Second, this video makes it sound less like Bret’s apology and more like an attention grab. By continuing to apologize again and again, he is both alienating himself and annoying his team. Both situations will cause problems.
If the blue team loses, Bret could easily be on the chopping block. By annoying the other chefs, they might want him voted out. Mistakes can be costly, but words can cause a chef to go up in flames.
