Food Network’s Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge premiere preview
Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge premiere will debut on the Food Network tonight. What can food fans expect from this newest culinary competition?
Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge premiere airs tonight. It is the Food Network’s newest culinary competition. As everyone prepares for the ultimate Thanksgiving feast, this food TV show will surely offer some inspiration. While these dishes might not be like mom makes, it could have you re-thinking that Thanksgiving menu.
According to the Food Network, the Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge premiere episode will feature the following:
"Five of the country’s most creative chefs put their spin on every food lover’s favorite holiday. In the first round, they take one classic Thanksgiving side and re-invent it. The winner gets an advantage in the final round, where they are asked to make an entire Turkey dinner in just one hour and incorporate an ingredient from the very first Thanksgiving. One chef will be eliminated, while the rest move on for a chance to win $25,000."
Thanksgiving side dishes can be tricky. Truthfully, there is no pleasing everyone at the table. For example, some people like a “wet” dressing and others want extra celery in theirs. Don’t get people started on the consistency of mashed potatoes or marshmallows on sweet potatoes.

Given the first challenge, it will be interesting to see how the chefs put a creative spin while still giving a nod to the traditional Thanksgiving side dish. The chef who can still stay true to a classic, yet elevate the flavors and presentation should do well.
For the final round, an entire turkey dinner is a huge challenge for these chefs. It will be interesting to see how the chefs cook turkey in such a limited time frame. Personally, one of the best parts of Thanksgiving turkey is that beautiful, crispy skin. Will these chefs be able to add that element in just an hour?
Also, the component of an ingredient from the first Thanksgiving is interesting. While everyone thinks of turkey, potatoes and even cranberry sauce, the first Thanksgiving meal was a little different. Could one chef find an interesting way to add some lobster, clams or venison to that tasty meal? Maybe the fans could be inspired to change up their Thanksgiving menu this year.
Lastly, it is nice to see this season Next Food Network Star co-winner, Christian Petroni on this show. He should have some good banter with the other judges, Alex Guarnaschelli and Carla Hall. And, host Giada de Laurentiis always seemed to have a good repartee with him as well.
