Edible slime is here, thank you JELL-O PLAY
Thanks to JELL-O Play, edible slime is here to delight kids of all ages. Are you ready to play with your food?
Edible slime is a reality. So many kids are obsessed with slime. From glitter to glow in the dark, slime is a favorite toy with many kids (and adults, yes, it is true). Even though slime is fun to mold, squish and squeeze, no one should eat it, until now. JELL-O Play is the first company to create an edible version.
Available in two flavors, strawberry-flavored Unicorn and lime-flavored Monster, this pre-made mix allows kids of all ages (that means adults, too) to stretch, mold, shape and eat this brightly colored slime. Also, this slime easily washes away with soap and warm water, which is very important fact for parents. No one wants to try to remove slime long after “play time.”
Slime has been a huge phenomenon recently. A quick search of Pinterest or other sites shows thousands of recipes for this sticky, gooey glob. From glitter versions to glow in the dark, slime seems to be everywhere.
This pre-mixed edible version is giving kids permission to play with their food. Earlier this year, JELL-O Play launched a line of gelatin products that were like toys. The gelatin molds encouraged kids to imagine and play with their food. Now instead of just the JELL-O jiggle, kids can make airplanes or sea life.

With this product launch, the food is less of the focus. Although I haven’t tried this product, I think that the focus is more about the interaction between child and parent than the food itself. Like other products in the JELL-O Play line, it is geared toward parent and child interaction.
Since food can bring people around the table, it makes sense that JELL-O would want to make a fun food that can bring kids and parents together. Instead of heads being buried in devices, maybe people can have an actual conversation around a table. If a slime that is both a toy and a food can spark a conversation, then bring on the edible slime.
The new JELL-O Play edible slime is available for pre-order on Amazon. It should be available in stores starting in December. A canister that makes two batches retails for $9.99.
Would you purchase edible slime? Or, more importantly would you buy unicorn slime or monster slime?
