Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 7 has the chefs balancing strategy and their willingness to compete in this latest episode. Which chef will be the last one standing?

Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 7 could be a turning point in the FOX culinary competition. While last week saw two chefs leave the kitchen, the mood is set for some added pressure. Although dinner service has been mostly successful, the chefs don’t seem to be pushing themselves. Will this week’s Hell’s Kitchen episode see a leader emerge in the kitchen?

According to FOX, the synopsis for this week’s episode is relatively straight forward. It says: “(a) challenge involving cooking five commonly served “staple” dishes; chef Ramsay makes changes to a dining service.”

Staple dishes in a restaurant can be many things. While some restaurants have specific cuisines and specialties, there are a handful of dishes that everyone should know how to make well. These dishes are staples for a reason. The flavors are straight-forward and they have broad appeal.

Since the synopsis statement doesn’t give too much detail on the staple dishes, FOX graciously gave FoodSided a special preview clip of Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 7, “Last Chef Standing.”

Before tackling the big issue of chefs stepping off the line, look at the dishes featured in this clip. Three dishes mentioned are meatballs and pasta, cioppino and shrimp and grits. While I wouldn’t necessarily think of these dishes as menu staples, they are relatively straight forward dishes. Still, they could cause a chef to go up in flames.

  • Looking at these particular dishes, Motto definitely wants to redeem himself after his grits signature dish mis-step. The poorly cooked grits were criticized by Chef Ramsay. Based on this clip, grits could be his downfall again.

While the dishes are part of the challenge, there is a bigger component to this test. With one chef leaving the kitchen periodically, it is curious which chefs want to leave. As Trevor says, why would a chef choose to leave? Isn’t it better to be the last chef standing?

That scenario is both beneficial and potentially dangerous. No one wants Chef Ramsay’s wrath. Becoming overwhelmed in the kitchen could cause a team to lose. But, if that chef can handle the pressure, it could increase that chef’s value in Chef Ramsay’s book.

Going into this week’s episode, the teams are relatively even. Some early favorites have struggled. Other chefs have flown under the radar. Can this last chef standing episode push a chef to the front runner position?
