Voodoo Doughnut Orlando is casting its magic on Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras celebration. One bite and this beignet could have you mystified.

Voodoo Doughnut Orlando has outdone itself again. To celebrate the annual Mardi Gras celebration at Universal Studios, the creative doughnut geniuses have put a magical twist on the beignet. Their beignet definitely captures the spirit of rolling good times.

Available for a limited time, the Voodoo Doughnut Beignet is a “yeast raised doughnut, half dipped in vanilla and half dipped in sugar; filled with a Bavarian hickory and topped with Mardi Gras sprinkles.” Occasionally, Voodoo transforms the yeast raised doughnuts with seasonal delights. This version could be the most ambitious flavor combination yet.

The Bavarian hickory sounds absolutely divine. Although I haven’t tried this doughnut yet, the idea of a smoky, earthy flavor integrated into a cream could be a huge game changer. Adding savory notes into sweet treats can make them more balanced and enjoyable. It expands the idea of what a sweet treat can be.

When thinking about this seasonal doughnut, another flavor Bavarian cream could have worked, too. Chickory coffee could have been a nice choice. The earthiness from that type of robust coffee could have played well with the sweetness of the doughnut. Maybe next year, this flavor combination could be the special seasonal doughnut.

If you want to try the Voodoo Doughnut Beignet, don’t wait too long. This doughnut will be available for a limited time.

Of course, the 50+ other doughnuts on the Voodoo Doughnut Orlando menu are also available. From the Voodoo Doll to the OBD, there is a doughnut that has at least one of everyone’s favorite flavors.
