Family Food Showdown premiere episode has two teams looking to their moms for recipe inspiration. Which team will make their mom proud?

The Family Food Showdown premiere is going to get food fans cheering. With family pride on the line, two teams look to cook up delicious meals that will impress the judges. Only one team will earn victory. Which team will impress the judges with their culinary creativity?

According to the Food Network, this episode of Food Family Showdown, Mom vs. Mom, the synopsis states:

"A loud and proud Italian family from New York takes on a Filipino-American family from Utah. The matriarch of the Cipriano family claims that she taught her son everything he knows, and he and his fiancée own an acclaimed pizza food truck on Long Island. The Gollahers are a young married couple who operate a food truck in Salt Lake City, with her Filipino mom as their chef. Host Valerie Bertinelli challenges the two teams to make a Mother’s Day meal that presents Mom, an elevated childhood favorite and a fried family favorite, while judges Clinton Kelly, Courtney Rada and Jet Tila decide which team does mom proud."

Looking at this synopsis, the pressure on these families is tremendous. No one would ever want to let her mom down. Can you imagine if you messed up a family favorite recipe?

For the food fan watching at home, these challenges can be quite inspiring. Everyone has a childhood favorite recipe. Taking that recipe and modernizing it is a concept that many people might want to do. While the heart of the recipe is still there, the recipe has grown into something more.

As a new Food Network show, this concept should do well. This spin on a cooking competition is a concept that could applied at home. It could make that next big family dinner a little more memorable.
