Buddy vs. Duff episode 2 preview: Will tempers flare again?

Buddy vs. Duff episode 2 looks to be another over the top baking battle? Which master pastry chef will find the perfect balance of detail and drama?

After last week’s final minute fireworks, Buddy vs. Duff episode 2 could be another epic face off. While both pastry chefs are experts in their field, their approaches to baking are very different. In this week’s episode, will details or drama be served on a silver platter?

According to the Food Network, this week’s episode synopsis states:

"Master pastry chefs Buddy Valastro and Duff Goldman face off in a battle of carnival treats, pulling out all the stops to create the ultimate sweets to satisfy a crowd of hungry amusement park patrons. For the cake-off challenge, Buddy and Duff must each create a dazzling, Bollywood-inspired cake for Food Network’s Aarti Sequeira. Fine details and over-the-top spectacle clash as the chefs push their talents to new heights in order to win."

For the first challenge, carnival treats should be an advantage for Buddy. His big, almost gigantic desserts, are well suited for this type of challenge. From deep fried to sugar coated, it will be interesting to see what Buddy creates.

Duff could do well in the carnival treats challenge if he can find some intriguing food combination. Sometimes carnival treats offer those foods that you just can’t resist even though they sound unusual. Remember someone had to imagine those fried candy bars and Oreos.

Thinking about the Bollywood-inspired cake, the approach could be the same as the first episode. Buddy makes large, physically large cakes. These cakes impress based on the physical size.

Duff focuses on the details. Based on preview clips, Duff’s cake should look like a jeweled elephant. The details make his cakes impressive.

The biggest hope for this episode is that the temper tantrums are left on the cutting room floor. Yes, this competition is television, but the storming off isn’t necessary. Focus on the food and leave the drama at the door.
