MasterChef Junior Season 7 episode 9 preview: “Pasta Race”
MasterChef Junior is off to the races. Can these young cooks roll out the longest sheet of pasta or will their chance at glory be ripped in pieces?
This week’s MasterChef Junior episode has the young cooks racing for the chance to be safe this week. As the competition heads toward the finish line, these young cooks need to step up their game. Who will earn their spot in next week’s episode?
According to FOX, this week’s episode, “Pasta Race” features the following:
"It’s a battle to the finish line when the Top 10 are tasked with a pasta race. The home cooks are divided into teams and compete to roll out the longest sheet of pasta as fast as they possibly can. The first team’s pasta sheet to make it to the winner’s circle will be safe and exempt from a high-stakes elimination test in which éclairs are the dish du jour. No detail will go unnoticed."
Looking at the first competition of the episode, rolling out pasta can be a difficult task. It will be curious to see if the young cooks have to create their pasta dough first before they roll it out. The dough needs to have the right consistency to ensure that it can be rolled out very, very long without tearing.
Additionally, the pasta race shows how important teamwork is in a kitchen. To create this long, continuous sheet of pasta, the young chefs need to communicate and work together. If one person doesn’t listen or participate correctly, that long pasta sheet could easily tear.
Of course, there is always a little fun added to each episode. Check out this clip.
Part of the entertainment in MasterChef Junior is the judges having a little fun. Throughout this season, fans have seen the judges recreate childhood pictures and have a variety of food dumped on them.
As the kids giggle in delight, the moment adds a little levity to the competition. While the stakes are high, these kids need to remember that cooking can and is fun. These silly moments add to that entertainment level.
For the elimination challenge, the young chefs will have to create eclairs. For these young chefs to create a choux dough well is quite accomplishment itself. Many home cooks struggle with this pastry.
Additionally, the synopsis references details. From properly filling an éclair to ensuring that all the eclairs are uniform will be key to doing well in this challenge.
