Brew at the Zoo at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is a roaring good time!
Every Memorial Day Weekend, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore hosts the annual Brew at the Zoo! One of the zoo’s most popular fundraising events, 100% of the ticket profits go to maintaining the care of the animals within the zoo.
Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. It also means it’s time for another Brew at the Zoo at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.
This year, the festival boasted over 80 different types of beer and wine, ranging from local breweries and vineyards, to international ones as well! The festival also featured live music, a range of local vendors and artists, lots of unique, delicious foods, and of course — all day admission into the zoo!
The festival is one of the most popular local events every year, and it always sells out. This was my first year going, and I absolutely loved it. Thanks to my pal Joanna Campbell of 100.7 The Bay, I was able to snag a Super Sipper VIP ticket, which includes a 16 oz commemorative mug, early entry to the festival, and unlimited beer and wine samples!
Day Hike from Monument Brewing Co. was the perfect way to start the festival. This New England style Session IPA was a tropical, fruity party in my mouth.
While I personally wouldn’t go hiking with beer, this is a great day drinking, festival beer! I was also surprised to see my personal favorite beer — National Bohemian — at the festival. Natty Boh is the ideal Pilsner for a hot, summer day, and pairs exceptionally well with funnel cake!
Next on my list was Charm City Meadeworks’ Mango Compeno, a light and dry mead. Packed with the delicious taste of mango and the spicy punch of compeno pepper, this fun summer mead is ideal for picnics or afternoons by the pool. It also pairs well with corn dogs, another summer festival staple.
I rounded out my festival beers with UFO’s Georgia Peach, a delicate, fragrant fruity hefeweizen. This is probably the freshest tasting fruit beer I’ve ever enjoyed, and is ideal for a brunch out with your friends.
Brew at the Zoo is one of the must do events every year in Baltimore. While it does focus on adult beverages, the festival is for families alike.
