Got pucker? Sour Patch Kids Blizzard has come to Dairy Queen
Ready for a little pucker? The Sour Patch Kids Blizzard has come to Dairy Queen for National Ice Cream month. Can you red spoon handle the sour kids?
Dairy Queen announced this flavor as its July Flavor of the Month. Can you handle this big punch of pucker? Sour Patch Kids Blizzards combines sweet and sour for the ultimate frozen treat flavor combination.
This newest special Blizzard flavor offers the DQ spin on the uber popular sour candy. As candy trends have shown, sour candy tops millennials favorite lists. There is something very satisfying with the tangy yet sweet flavor combination.
According to Dairy Queen, this special limited edition flavor features “Sour Patch Kids Bitz blended with Sour Patch Kids Redberry flavored soft serve.” While the candy mix-in is expected, the Redberry flavored soft serve is quite intriguing. It will be interesting to see how this soft serve plays off the candy itself.
Maria Hokanson said that this Blizzard “dazzles your eyes with vibrant colors and tantalizes your taste buds with sour-the-sweet flavor.” That statement seems to show that DQ is focusing on the visual as must as the flavor.
As seen with the new moon-inspired Blizzard, the Zero Gravity Blizzard, the colorful nature of the treat is almost as important as the taste. The old saying that you eat with your eyes seems to be a focus.

Granted the Blizzard must pass the upside down test, but now it might have to pass the Instagram test, too.
Looking at the recently released Blizzard flavors, the trend seemed to be heading toward sweet and classic options. From the Reese’s Lovers to Cotton Candy, the flavors tend to be more tradition. By adding the Sour Patch flavor, DQ is embracing the uber popular candy trend.
The Sour Patch is the July Flavor of the Month. It is available at participating locations while supplies last.
