Sweetbitter Season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, July 14. After being introduced to this flavorful, exhilarating and difficult restaurant world, is Tess’s tongue still coded or does any of this world still tempt her senses?

Are you excited that Sweetbitter Season 2 is set to return to Starz? The novel turned television show blended the drama from the book and the glimpse into the always intriguing restaurant world. While this show is a coming of age, it is also an exploration of food, wine and how food impacts life’s experiences. Are you ready for another taste?

Season 1 ended with Tess taking her exam. While she partied to hard the night before, the whole experience left her wondering if this world, this life, all of it is truly what she wants or if nothing is worth it. In many ways, this restaurant world isn’t just a job, it is an all encompassing experience.

For the Sweetbitter Season 2 premiere, the group jumps right into a collective experience. In this episode, “The Pork Special” synopsis states: “Howard takes his staff to learn where their food comes from; Tess learns information that makes her wonder who she can trust.”

Many foodies are interested in where their food comes from. While they may not step onto a farm, that farm to table label is often seen on menus or bantered about in food circles. In many ways, where food originates is important. That knowledge is more than just flavor. It provides a connection to the whole eating experience.

Of course, Sweetbitter isn’t a documentary. People don’t watch this show to see the inner workings of a farm. But, blending the knowledge with the drama is why this book, and hopefully this show, is so compelling. Food is about the experience, the communal table and making that food memory connection. If this episode can touch on those items, it will be a good start to Season 2.
