Worst Cooks in America Season 17 premiere: Bobby is back and it’s looking up

The Food Network kitchen disaster show is back. Worst Cooks in America Season 17 has 14 recruits that are looking to find cooking redemption. Can chefs Bobby Flay and Anne Burrell find some hidden talent in these want to be cooks.

According to Food Network, the Worst Cooks in America Season 17 premiere, “No Where to Go But Up” synopsis states:

"Fourteen of the worst cooks in America enter boot camp with dreams of putting their kitchen nightmares behind them. Chefs Anne Burrell and Bobby Flay see just what kind of disasters they’re dealing with by asking the recruits to create a date night dish. After being sorted into teams, the recruits are shown their chef’s signature date night dish and are tasked with replicating it exactly. The recruits on each team with the worst dishes won’t be getting a second date."

First, it seems that Bobby Flay is taking over Food Network right now. From BBQ Brawl: Flay vs. Symon to The Flay List to Beat Bobby Flay, he seems to have a show on every day of the week.

It will be interesting to see Bobby’s and Anne’s banter in this show. While the cooking mistakes are amusing, the way that the chefs handle these disasters keep the show interesting. Although fans will expect Anne to bring her red marker out for marking knife mistakes, what will Bobby do?

For this first episode, the recruits are creating a date night dish. Since these want to be cooks lack skills, everyone should hope that the dishes keep it simple. Or, at least more importantly, do not pick a food that could cause someone to get ill. That scenario would definitely end a date night on a sour note.

The key for these recruits to do well in this cooking competition is to listen and learn. Replicating a dish isn’t as difficult as creating a dish on their own. Just like a great recipe, the right steps can lead anyone to more cooking confidence.
