The finale is quickly approaching in BBQ Brawl Flay vs. Symon. In this week’s episode, regional barbecue flavors take center stage.

The title of Master of Q is on the line in BBQ Brawl Flay vs. Symon. In this week’s episode, only two pit masters will earn a place in the finale. Will Bobby or Michael earn the bragging rights in this Food Network competition?

According to Food Network, this week’s episode, “Winging It” features the following:

"In their biggest competition yet, Bobby Flay and Michael Symon try to best each other in a regional barbecue challenge with a major advantage. The final four pitmasters are tasked with cooking a style of barbecue unique to an area of the country, and a mid-challenge twist has them making big decisions on the fly."

Looking back at last week’s challenge, Michael’s advantage wasn’t used. While not switching a team member might have been a good choice, it will be interesting to see this week’s advantage.

If the advantage is choosing an ingredient or barbecue style, that advantage could be quite helpful. As seen in the Texas beef challenge, some cuts cannot be made in short time frames.

As for the twist, it sounds like the ingredient is wings. While wings can take more than 30 minutes to cook, they won’t take as long as a big pork roast. Also, give the statement “on the fly” it seems likely that the twist is chicken wings.

It will be interesting to see how the pitmasters approach a chicken wing challenge. Smoked wings are always quite tasty. When smoke can add flavor to the wings, the wings are more nuanced. It isn’t just about sauce or rubs.

With just four pitmasters left, it could be an all-female finale? In a way, that scenario could say lot about barbecue and grilling. Maybe some female home cooks will be encouraged to lit the grill this weekend.
