Ready to jet across the pond? MasterChef is heading to London for the first time ever and the Top Six chefs better not have jet lag.

In this week’s MasterChef episode, the Top Six will have a once in a lifetime experience. With the chance to cook at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, these cooks better have brought their A-game. Which of one of the Top Six will be sent home?

According to FOX, this week’s MasterChef episode, “London Calling pt 1,” features the following:

"For the first time in MASTERCHEF history, the Top Six chef-testants travel across the pond to London for a culinary experience they will never forget. Once there, the remaining six chefs face the ultimate challenge of feeding 36 diners, including the judges and Gordon’s family, at his flagship restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. After they are split into two teams, the chefs have 45 minutes to cook and serve their appetizers and another 45 minutes to cook and serve their entrees to their hungry guests. Watch the pressure in the kitchen intensify as two of the Top Six chefs face elimination in the all-new “London Calling – Pt. 1” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Wednesday, Sept. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

Looking at the synopsis, one key factor will be the teams. While Subha has come a long way, he can get frazzled in the kitchen. In some ways, having him on a team is like being down a team member. If Subha can carry his weight, that team won’t be at a disadvantage.

More importantly, this challenge is far different that cooking in the MasterChef kitchen. A real restaurant kitchen is not like cooking one dish. There teams need to communicate and plan their dishes well.

The key to working efficiently on a restaurant line is for each cook to deliver his component which will create a composed dish. If the protein is over or arrives to the pass late, the dish is ruined. Efficiency and communication will be tested.

Also, it will be curious to see the appetizers and entrees that these teams have to cook. While no one will get an easy dish, it will be curious to see if the options are relatively straight forward. At this level, it seems unlikely that any team could plate numerous dishes with too many components.
