New Orleans Saints fans are ready for a big year and the Superdome is rolling out a ginormous menu filled with NOLA flavor. Ready for a taste?

Football and food go hand in hand. As the New Orleans Saints prepare to take the field at the Superdome, this year’s football menu is bigger and bolder than ever.

Drawing inspiration from some NOLA favorites and other food trends, foodies might be willing to miss a down or two just to sample all the tasty bites. Centerplate, the food provider at the Mercedes Benz Superdome, has created some amazing food choices. Are you hungry Who Dat nation?

Ready for some gator?

Alligator is a huge menu trend at the Superdome this year. While some people might think this protein is exotic, it is a NOLA menu staple. This year, there are two menu items that foodies will want to try.

The Alligator Burger gets a big burst of flavor from the chow chow. For those unfamiliar, chow chow is blend of vegetables, usually tomato based. With a combination of an alligator burger, chow chow and special Cajun spicy sauce, this burger is definitely a must try.

For a more traditional NOLA dish, the fried alligator po boy is another great option. The highlight of this dish is the tomato bacon jam. Isn’t everything better with bacon?

Po Boys for everyone

A Po Boy is a NOLA staple. From the perfect French bread to a scrumptious remoulade, a po boy is always a great choice.

In addition to the alligator po boy, there are a deep fried soft shell crab po boy and a pork belly and sausage po boy. From the Pistolette to the Cajun remoulade, you might have to sample all the po boys on the menu.

Nachos and bowls

A football game isn’t complete without nachos. But, why have just tortilla chips and cheese. That choice is too pedestrian.

The Superdome is serving Buffalo Chicken Nachos with Pork Rinds. The spicy Buffalo sauce is tamed by the queso cheese. With some extra texture and flavor from the pork rinds, you might re-think your favorite nachos recipe.

Also, there is a Dixie Beer Can Chicken Bowl. Anyone who has had beer can chicken knows how moist and tasty this method of cooking makes chicken.

This bowl is big on flavor and has a few twists. The braised cabbage and yellow rice add a creole feel, while the Dixie Beer BBQ sauce adds some Southern flare. This menu item is definitely a hearty choice.

Dessert

What better way to celebrate a New Orleans Saints scoring drive than with a sweet treat. There are tons of dessert items on the Superdome menu.

One must try dish is the traditional bread pudding/cobbler. The rotating menu means that you can have a different dessert throughout the season.

Other sweet treats include ice cream floats, ice cream sandwiches and even a Frazil Slushie. Can anyone resist a slushie?

These Superdome menu items will be available during the New Orleans Saints games this year. Check with the stadium for specific locations of the various menu items.
