Kids Baking Championship Season 7 episode 6 preview: Pie-tastic

The Kids Baking Championship is approaching the finale and these young bakers need to step up their baking game and make some pie-tastic desserts.

Ready for another Kids Baking Championship episode? The popular Food Network show is close to crowning another young baking champion. As the finale approaches, these young bakers have a difficult task ahead. Who will earn a blue ribbon for their pie?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Kids Baking Championship episode, “Beauty is in the Pie of the Beholder” synopsis states: “Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman present the four young bakers with late-summer fruit and challenge them to make a beautiful, delicious pie. Only the cream of the crop will make it to the finale!”

Baking a delicious pie can be difficult. The key to any great pie is the crust. Buttery, flakey and tender are all good adjectives to hear about a pie crust. It will be interesting to see how these young bakers can create the perfect pie crust for their pies.

Second, these pies are going to be fruit pies. Getting the consistency of a fruit pie correct is another difficult task. While the fruit needs to be the star, the fruit needs to be cooked but not mushy.

Also, the filling needs to be luscious. It cannot be too watery or too thick. There is a delicate balance that needs to be on point.

Lastly, the flavor is very important. The fruit filling needs to have depth. Just fruit and sugar may be a little too pedestrian for this competition. Can one of these young bakers find a way to add some herbs and acid to elevate the dish?
