Halloween Baking Championship Season 5 episode 3 preview: Weird or wonderful?
Halloween Baking Championship embraces the weird and wonderful on this week’s episode. Are you ready for a little creepy and kooky?
This week’s Halloween Baking Championship episode has a special theme for the bakers. While everyone might not be snapping their fingers, they will need to incorporate some creepy, kooky and maybe a little spooky into this week’s desserts.
According to the Food Network, this week’s Halloween Baking Championship episode, “All Things Weird and Wonderful” features the following:
"Comedian John Henson hosts as the six remaining bakers team up to create desserts that pay tribute to the iconic Addams Family — scary on the outside and sweet on the inside. During the main heat challenge, the wonderfully creepy family is honored with “dead velvet” cakes, and judges Carla Hall, Katie Lee and Zac Young determine who’s spooky enough to move on to the next round."
Looking at the pre-heat challenge, a duality dessert should be quite creative. Sweet on the inside shouldn’t challenge the baker too much. Anyone at this level should be able to find a way to create a filled dessert with a touch of sweet.
The desserts’ decoration should really separate the bakers in this pre-heat challenge. A dessert that is creepy but still entices a judge to eat it will take a tremendous amount of skill. Who will be able to excel in this challenge?
As for the main heat, the “dead velvet” cake is an interesting choice. A tasty red velvet cake isn’t easy. The richness of the chocolate needs to be balanced by a perfect crumb.
While the color is perfect for Halloween themes, it is more than just a pretty picture. These desserts need to deliver on flavor. Weird without wonderful doesn’t cut it on Halloween Baking Championship.
