Tired of those common cookie cutter shapes? In this week’s Christmas Cookie Challenge, those cookie cutters get a big Food Network makeover.

Need a little Christmas Cookie Challenge inspiration? On this week’s episode, the home baker might be feeling these baking hacks. Are you ready to show off those holiday treats at the next cookie exchange?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Christmas Cookie Challenge episode, “Bright Lights, Big Cookies” features the following:

"Eddie Jackson challenges five talented cookie makers to flex their skills with classic cookie cutters, using them to make dazzling designs that have nothing to do with the cutters’ original shapes. Judges Ree Drummond, Dan Langan and Aarti Sequeira decide which cookie creations are a cut above. Then the stakes become crystal clear as the competitors use edible stained glass to make cookie versions of traditional Christmas decorations like trees, wreaths and lanterns. With $10,000 in their sights, they strive to make displays that are all sweetness and light."

The idea of re-imagining cookie cutter designs is an idea getting a lot of traction right now. Remember that Baby Yoda cookie hack?

There are all types of ways to re-imagine some classic cookie shapes. Could a Christmas tree be cut in half or a reindeer become a different animal? Sometimes thinking outside of the box is just the ticket to make the holidays a little more festive.

The second cookie challenge is quite more difficult. The edible stained glass takes a skilled hand. Ensuring there are no bubbles, ripples or other imperfections isn’t as easy as it seems. Hopefully everyone has the patience to make these visually stunning desserts.

This Food Network series shows that Christmas cookies offer all types of baking inspiration. While there are always traditions that people love, a few little tips, tricks and hacks can add a little merry to the annual baking event. Nothing is ever boring when it comes to holiday baking.
