Holiday Baking Championship preview: Traditions with a twist

It is time for traditions to get updated on Holiday Baking Championship. Will these twists on holiday traditions become a new tradition of their own?

With the finale quickly approaching, Holiday Baking Championship is ready for an update, a holiday treat update. This week’s theme is all about holiday traditions with a twist. Maybe spinning that holiday dreidel served as some theme inspiration.

According to the Food Network, this week’s Holiday Baking Championship episode, “Traditions with a Twist” features the following:

"Some of the tastiest treats of Hanukkah are gold-covered chocolate coins, and Jesse Palmer challenges the four remaining bakers to give the classic treat a twist by incorporating candied orange, espresso beans, smoked salt or toasted coconut and create a dessert highlighting their chosen flavor. In the second challenge, the competitors bake up delicious cheesecakes with an assigned crust and decorated with an edible shiny ice rink on top. Judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale get serious about which three bakers move on to the finale."

Combining a flavor with chocolate can be delicious. Looking at the four flavors in the pre-heat, the options could be quite intriguing.

Given that the bakers can choose any dessert to highlight the flavor combination, they should use the opportunity to impress the judges. With the finale within their reach, these desserts should be filled with holiday cheer.

For the main heat, it will be interesting to see how the bakers tackle the assigned crusts. While it seems unlikely that the crust will be just plain graham cracker, the bakers might want to think out of the box on this dessert.

Also, cheesecakes can be difficult on Holiday Baking Championship. Everyone just seems to have a mishap of some sort. Maybe this episode’s twist is that everyone executes well.

Lastly, the shiny ice rink top is quite different for a cheesecake. Could a mirror glaze cheesecake become a new dessert trend?

Which bakers will make the Holiday Baking Championship finale? Here’s how to watch.
