The Winter Solstice might be the darkest day of the year, but that doesn’t mean that you can find way to feel a little brighter with some tasty food.

When it is dark, chilly and the height of winter, the Winter Solstice might be a reason to stay home curled up on the couch. Even if you haven’t finished your holiday shopping, the Hallmark Channel and all those holiday movies could be calling your name. But, are certain foods really more popular to order on the Winter Solstice?

DoorDash studied all the orders from last year and found some food trends that stood out. It seems that on demand food platform found that people are craving some carbs on the darkest day of the year.

Here are the top 10 ordered foods on the Winter Solstice according to DoorDash.

A couple of food trends stand out. First, people really want carbs. From hash browns to fried rice, this list is really on carb overload. Maybe all the limited sunlight has people wanting food that can make them feel better. Carbs can do that (sorry Keto diet followers).

Also, several of these foods are spicy. It could be the chill or it could be the time of year, but several of these foods bring the heat. Could all those spices just make people feel a little more comfort, too?

Lastly, the foods are rather traditional. No one is really going too far out on a limb with these food choices. The list are more traditional take-out food choices.

It could be people on holiday overload, wanting a quiet day at home or just something that is approachable. No matter the reason, it is a pretty easy day for the darkest day of the year.
