Worst Cooks in America Season 18 episode 5 preview: Ready to tailgate?
While some people might be watching football, Worst Cooks in America is getting ready for football, too. Can these recruits make some winning game day dishes?
Need some big game cooking inspiration? Worst Cooks in America have their game day faces on and are ready to run to victory. Can these game day dishes score a win or will they be left with a fumble before the finish line?
According to the Food Network, this week’s Worst Cooks in America episode, “Let’s Get Ready to Tailgate” features the following:
"It’s game day, and the teams of recruits face off as they make game day dishes in order to move down the field to the end zone. Then they re-create burgers made by Alton Brown and Anne Burrell. For the main dish challenge, the recruits make Southern tailgating staples, and those who fail to make tasty game day fare get cut from the team."
Given that this episode airs during the big game, it makes sense that the recruits will be making game day dishes. While it might be too late for home cooks to borrow these recipes, it could be a good episode to remember.
Making a great burger takes skill. It is more than just meat on a grill. It is about building flavors and textures in a complete bite. Although these two chefs haven’t been Food Network burger champions, they do know how to make a tasty burger. Hopefully, these recruits take some great notes.

The main dish challenge is interesting. While it would have made sense to pick Miami inspired recipes, this episode focuses on Southern tailgate staples. Southern food is definitely having a moment, but this challenge could prove difficult. Southern food takes a skill to do well.
