While breakfast might be the most important meal of the day, a fiber-rich breakfast might be sitting in your pantry. Did you start your day with something tasty and good for you?

What comes to mind when you hear fiber-rich breakfast? While some people might think of a bowl of broccoli or some powdered supplements, a tasty breakfast that is fiber rich could already be in your pantry. Many of your favorite cereals are packed with fiber.

To kick off National Breakfast Week, Kellogg’s conducted a survey to better understand why consumers do not get enough fiber in their diet. While consumers understand that fiber is important to a healthy lifestyle, more than half of those surveyed do not meet their daily fiber needs. But, why are people falling short?

For some people, they think that fibrous foods can boring and bland. Whether it is that vegetable you hated as a kid or that supplement, some people think that fiber is something that you just have to eat and might not be your favorite food to eat.

Kellogg’s is looking to change how people look at a fiber-rich breakfast. While fiber is important to digestive health and overall wellness, it doesn’t have to be a chore. Real, tasty foods can help boost that fiber content. More importantly, many of those foods might already be in your pantry.

To kick off National Breakfast Week, Kellogg’s is reminding everyone that a bowl of Raisin Bran or Frosted Mini Wheats offers 20% of the recommended daily fiber. That bowl of cereal is not only tasty, but it starts the day with fiber-rich breakfast boost.

According to Sarah Ludmer, registered dietitian and Senior Director of Wellbeing and Regulatory at Kellogg, “Kellogg’s offers over 30 cereals that are a good or excellent source of fiber, and no Kellogg’s cereals contain high-fructose corn syrup.” While you might have picked that cereal because it is your childhood favorite, it can be a step toward digestive health and overall wellness.

Like many households, cereal is a staple in my pantry. Whether it is breakfast, lunch or even a post-swim practice snack, the pantry is stocked with cereal. Still, the family needs to agree on a few favorites, otherwise that pantry looks like a grocery store shelf.

Frosted Mini Wheats has been a favorite with everyone in our household. From the classic version that offers just the right amount of sweetness to the fruit filled varieties, the only cereal complaints that arise is when someone puts back an empty box.

To encourage everyone to start their day with a fiber-rich breakfast, Kellogg’s is giving away “week’s worth of Kellogg’s Raisin Bran or Kellogg’s Frosted Mini-Wheats cereal to consumers who sign a pledge to boost their fiber intake during National Breakfast Week.” For more information and complete rules, consumers can visit www.kfr.com/didyouknow.
