Buddy vs Duff 2: Are Food Network baking fans ready for more?

With Buddy vs. Duff 2 set to premiere on the Food Network, baking fans are wondering how will Buddy Valastro and Duff Goldman top last season’s cakes?

No more waiting. Buddy vs Duff 2 has arrived. After last season’s heated battles, Food Network viewers have been anticipating the next round of competition. While Duff might be the current title holder, Buddy is ready to claim a victory. What can fans expect on the premiere episode?

According to Food Network, Buddy vs. Duff 2 premiere, “Big Apple Cake” features the following:

"Buddy Valastro and Duff Goldman bring their incredible cake competition to the East Coast. New York City is the inspiration for cakes that will be unveiled at a Big Apple event hosted by actress Debi Mazar and news anchor Rosanna Scotto."

While this synopsis is rather brief, this season appears to be bigger and bolder than round 1. Based on the commercials, it appears that the cakes are gigantic, more realistic and simply draw dropping. If fans are looking to be astounded that these artistic show pieces are cake, they will not be disappointed.

Give the potential size to these challenges, it appears that Duff and Buddy have bigger teams this season. That extra help should push the creativity level. An extra set of hands is always helpful in the kitchen.

While the focus is on the cakes, each baker has a very different approach. Buddy has an old-school, classic New York bakery feel. Given that this season is set in New York, that aspect could give him an edge.

Duff has tends to push the boundaries when it comes to cake. Whether it is hanging cake from a ceiling or making cake hover, it is all about redefining what cake can be.

Still, the biggest difference in the previous season was Duff’s pastry skills. While Buddy is a wonderful baker, there is a difference between a baker and a pastry chef. Duff’s knowledge seemed to give him an advantage.
