As more people explore cooking at home, family pizza making is a great way to explore new flavors. Are you ready to start making some pizza?

For many people, pizza is a favorite food and pizza making at home can be a fun dinner option. While many people might be drawn to popular toppings like pepperoni and sausage, a pizza can be a great way to explore some new ingredients and flavors. Ready to get cooking?

Making pizza at home is a great activity for families to do together. Whether you use a pre-made pizza dough, buy dough from your local pizza restaurant or just improvise with whatever is in the house, there are many options on the plate.

As everyone gathers around the table, pizza making can be a great way to spark a family discussion. Maybe it is how much sauce is really necessary on a pizza. The same can be said about the amount of cheese. If there is too much cheese is that really a problem?

The first time a family tries this family cooking activity might be left to the classics. It is fun to let the kids make their own dinner. There is a great sense of accomplishment from making dinner and sometimes it just seems to taste better when you make food yourself.

Previously our family has done pizza making classes. Terralina Crafted Italian in Disney Springs has offered a variety of kids’ pizza making classes. Those experiences gave the kids confidence that crafting their own pizza is easy. More importantly, it allowed them to make dinner for the family a couple of times.

As the kids gained confidence in their pizza making skills, it allowed everyone to explore some new flavors and ingredients. For example, what if pizza sauce was skipped and we used fresh tomatoes, olive oil, basil and cheese? Sometimes simple fresh ingredients are perfection on a simple pizza dough.

More importantly, that pizza dough became a way of bringing new ingredients and flavors to the table. For example, why not put some leftover pulled pork on a pizza dough. It is an easy way to bring some new life to a leftover meal.

One fun dinner can be a discovery of international flavors. Maybe that sriracha could be a base for a sauce for an Asian inspired pizza. Or, what about some gochujang for a Korean inspired pizza. An entire week could be pizzas for dinner and there could never be a repeat.

Also, it can be a great way to get everyone in the family to eat a few more vegetables. If you put enough cheese and sauce on a pizza, it is easy enough to eat some extra mushrooms or even some spinach.

Lastly, pizza can make a great dessert. Grab some Nutella or peanut butter as the sauce. Add some fresh fruit and maybe even a few pieces of marshmallows for a tasty treat.

As more and more people explore the joy of cooking at home, consider a family pizza making night. It could be a fun adventure that will get everyone away from another hour of binge watching Netflix.
