Buddy vs Duff Season 2 episode 4 preview: Broadway baby
In this week’s Buddy vs Duff, the bakers create two impressive cakes based on the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Waitress. Do you think that there will be pie?
With just two more episodes in Buddy vs Duff Season 2, the competition is fairly even. With Duff making a comeback in last week’s Medieval Times episode, this week’s challenge might bring a big advantage. Who will serve the winning cake?
According to Food Network, this week’s Buddy vs Duff episode, “Waitress the Musical Cake” features the following:
"Singer and actress Jordin Sparks is finishing her run as the lead in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Waitress. She asks Buddy Valastro and Duff Goldman to help her celebrate by making painstakingly detailed cakes for a huge wrap party."
This Broadway musical is perfect for this competition. Whether you have seen the musical on Broadway or the touring version, baking is a major part of the show. If you have a moment to listen to the soundtrack, it will make sense why this musical is as much about baking as it is about a woman following her path.
With songs like “What Baking Can Do” to the references of flour and sugar, this musical could push both Buddy and Duff to new creative levels. While it is not clear what the required theme of the week is, the displays will be impressive. Based on previews, the cakes will definitely not be small.
It will be curious to see if the Buddy or Duff make real pies for the displays. Within Waitress, real pies are used on stage. The aroma from your seat is part of the experience. Hopefully both Buddy and Duff capture that aspect to the musical.
