Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition preview: Into the sea?

Worst Cooks in America takes a dip.

In this Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition episode, the recruits are ready to take a dip. Will this seafood challenge have them sinking to the bottom of the ocean?

While the celebrities had their first elimination in the last episode, the week’s episode could really put their skills to the test. Even some aspiring chefs struggle to properly break down a fish. The kitchen chaos could have many people wanting to jump ship.

According to the Food Network, this week’s episode. “Sea-List to A-List” features the following:

"The celebrity recruits enter boot camp to find it transformed into a nautical oasis equipped with fish tanks and a live mermaid! For their skill drill challenge, the recruits dive into the world of seafood by solving a recipe riddle to make ceviche. For the main dish challenge, chefs Anne Burrell and Tyler Florence show them how to butcher their own fish and make the classic fish en papillote. The recruits have to replicate their chef’s fish but also create their own vegetable side dish. The two recruits that sink to the bottom enter the blind elimination challenge and attempt to cook their way into another week of boot camp."

Looking at this synopsis, the challenges are quite difficult. While a great ceviche is a combination of bright notes and fresh fish, these celebrity recruits are still struggling with flavors. Hopefully, no one grabs the maple syrup or pepper paste for their ceviche.

For the other challenge, cooking a fish in paper is a classic recipe. In some ways, it is one of the easiest ways to cook fish. More importantly, these celebrity recruits cannot keep adding ingredients to that dish (please no cheese with fish).

The key to success will be proper seasoning, which has definitely been a struggle. Putting aside the simple salt and pepper scenario, no one seems to grasp how flavors go together. Hopefully, someone will figure out how to season a dish without overpowering it.

While it is impossible to pick a favorite, last week Johnny Bananas did relatively well. Although, his kitchen accident was quite disturbing. Cutting yourself can never be overlooked.

As for the other celebrity recruits, there were many lows and a few highs. Hopefully, everyone keeps learning and taking notes. Otherwise, someone will be set out to sea without a life-preserver.
