In this Worst Cooks in America episode, can the recruits taste the difference?

Throughout this Worst Cooks in America season, the recruits are learning more than how to properly cut an onion. In this episode, those taste buds are being put to the test. Can these aspiring cooks taste which ingredient is more expensive?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Worst Cooks in America episode, “Cost of Cooking” features the following:

"Chef Anne Burell and Chef Alex Guarnaschelli are in full game-show mode as the recruits play a game to see if they can determine a higher quality ingredient from a lower quality ingredient solely by taste. Then, things take a turn in the skill drill challenge when the red team goes head-to-head with the blue team. For the main dish challenge, the recruits tackle breaking down a full fish to make a “sofishticated” dinner. The least successful recruit on each team will be sent home."

In many cases, a high quality ingredient should be easy to spot. There is a big difference between a hamburger and a NY strip. Most likely the foods will not be quite this easy. Do you think that there will be a lobster versus monkfish challenge?

Still, these recruits seem to be doing well in the taste challenges. Last week’s donut challenge showed that ability. In some ways, this season has seen a very talented group in the kitchen.

Looking at this week’s challenges, the recipes are becoming more complex. Although last week’s episode had Louisa leave the kitchen over a sausage dish, these recipes are more than boiling water and pasta. By the end of this competition, these recruits will be some good cooks.

Even though the season is more than halfway completed, it is hard to determine a front runner. Overall, these dishes have been quite good. It seems that these Worst Cooks might not be that bad.
