Halloween Baking Championship Season 6 episode 5: Devilish desserts
In this Halloween Baking Championship episode, devilish desserts are deceiving.
Can these Halloween Baking Championship bakers handle the most unusual dessert ingredients? While Food Network bakers often find creative uses for unusual ingredients, this week’s baking challenge is downright devilish.
According to the Food Network, this week’s Halloween Baking Championship episode “The Devil Made Me Do It” features the following:
"In the devil’s den, host Carla Hall challenges the six remaining bakers to conjure up a devilish dessert using unusual ingredients, such as sauerkraut, beets, tamarind paste and canned tomato soup. The competitors must get creative to avoid the fiery pit of elimination and impress Carla and the other judges, Stephanie Boswell and Zac Young."
While Devil’s Food cake might be a common Halloween dessert, this challenge is far more difficult. These ingredients are more likely to be served at dinner, not dessert.
Still, a few of the options might be easily transformed. Tamarind is commonly used in many Mexican desserts. The baker who gets this ingredient should have it easy.
The same could be said about beets. Beets and chocolate are becoming more common in desserts.
As for the other ingredients, sauerkraut could be quite difficult. In addition to the strong flavor, the texture could be a difficult element to incorporate. How would that ingredient work in a pie?
Overall, these bakers need to step up their game in this episode. With the finale approaching, only one baker will be named champion. Will the devil be in the details this episode?
