Dunkin Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut is sizzling hot
Are you prepared for Dunkin Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut?
While Halloween can be a little fiery, the new Dunkin Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut brings a taste of extreme to the Dunkin’ menu. After one of these donuts, you might be running to find a glass of milk.
One of the recent food trends has been spicy food. From chicken nuggets to bold sauces, it seems that everyone is kicking up the heat level to extremes. Now, your morning donut is joining the spicy food trend.
According to Dunkin, the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut is “a classic yeast donut ring, topped with a strawberry flavored icing that features a bold blend of cayenne and ghost pepper, and finished with red sanding sugar.” Dunkin does not share the amount of cayenne and ghost pepper on the donut or the approximate Scoville level of donut.
Spicy donuts are not necessarily a new concept. Voodoo Doughnut has a Mexican Chocolate donut with peppers on its menu. That donut offers a slow burn.

While many people will be drawn to this menu item on a dare or a whim, the spice level could be approachable. Although many people use milk or dairy to tame spicy foods, sugar can be another remedy. (Next time you have those hot wings, consider a package of sugar instead of milk.)
Since sugar balances heat, this donut should not be insanely extreme spicy. Yes, it will pack a bold punch and may not be for the spice adverse. Still, it shouldn’t be unbearable.
Given that the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut is coming out around Halloween, many people might use this donut as a prank. If you blindly grab any donut from the box, you might want to think twice. This donut could be the new version of trick or treat.
The Dunkin Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut is available now through December at participating Dunkin locations.
